Generally, when you buy a machine, the capacitor and the coil wire leads are soldered together onto one solder lug. This setup makes it very difficult to change capacitors. In many cases the coils need to be removed to change or replace the capacitor. All you need to do to install these capacitors is remove the old capacitor on your machine and simply install a new pre-wired capacitor. This is the easiest way to try capacitors with different microfarad ratings to determine which is best suited to how you run your machines. Two styles of wiring are available. Equal length lead pre-wired capacitors fit well on most Standard Upright or Side Bar style machine frames. Short positive lead pre-wired capacitors fit well on most Side Plate style machine frames.
